A vacant lot along a busy street in San Luis Obispo is to be developed into an exciting and inviting new atmosphere. The program of this project is a 'food courtyard', or restaurant complex. To attract visitors, a permanent farmer's market setup will be mandatory. The program outlines the need for a restaurant, café, deli, rentable kitchen, seating areas, restrooms, parking, and 16 vendor booths. Unique to this project is the emphasis on ADA accessibility and code requirements. This project was completed in conjunction with ARCH 242, a practice course including construction principles and detailing.
The overall goal is to create a cozy and relaxing space through intimate scale integrated with the landscape. Aesthetics should be cozy, familiar, and natural.
